What a heart-breaking story, so beautifully told.

(I'm gaga for Goudy!)

These stories are a book and I long to listen to them as I paint. I don't know how on earth you have chosen all my favorite fonts so far.

Hi Kerry,

Dark stories of love, lust and betrayal often end with a woman being crushed, or one woman rejoicing in another's loss. Patriarchy remains intact (surely nothing happened to the good doctor) as the crazy woman is finally broken and put back in her cage. I just feel sad.

So public schools in your rural town were segregated? You didn't go to school with any Americans who were of African, Asian, Jewish... descent? Was your mom ever threatened because of her relationship with Vivian? How did they first get to know each other? Did she ever say?

My town had only one high school and junior high. Lots of Black kids, a few Native Americans. Elementary schools were largely segregated. I went to elementary and jr high in other towns with Black students. I assume you mean Brianna, not Vivian, who was white. As far as I know, they were never threatened and my mother was not one to back down if they were.

Yes Brianna. Oh why did you go to elementary and Jr high on other towns? A long story?

Thanks for asking, Diane. My family moved a few times. One of the main ones is discussed in my piece about my father's funeral, Dad's Last Laugh.
