The bird choice is hard. I love all the cards AND the quilt AND the Booby story. A boat captain I met last Friday who travels on a boat that is currently anchored here in the bay said that he and his wife had a blue-footed Booby perching on their mast every evening, which was initially fun but then became not fun when they had to clean up Booby poo every morning. They shooed it away and it came back. They hoisted various things that were supposed to scare it away but the blue-footed booby always returned. Maybe it was in love. The captain finally anchored his boat far away, in a secret part of the bay. He also draped his boat in an invisibility cloak. So far, the booby hasn't found them. (Everything is true except the cloak.)
He was here in the PT Bay. This happened in the last week or so. When I asked him about the color, he sort of shrugged and said, "Blue... Red...." So I'm not sure.
My brother, avid birder and visiting from AZ was thrilled to see the booby. As if all our resident avian family weren't reason enough to visit!
The final choice on the cards is a lovely dilemma. Do I vote for my fave photo, or my fave font? I finally went with overall design and gut impulse. That was fun!
Barbara's quilts are always so creative. It is fun to hear the stories behind the design.
Are we voting for the bird or the type face? I'll choose the Trajan Tropicbird just because of the elegant bird. Otherwise I'd vote for the Bodoni Booby (where are the bird's feet?) By the way, what is that font on the cover of your book "Aves"? It dances so nicely with the image.

Curious where your friend was that he saw a blue-footed booby.

Must have been the same bird. Boobys aren’t from around here. That’s why all the attention from birders. I’ve never seen a blue-footed.
As much as I like Trajan Tropicbird, the Bodoni Booby pulls me in the most.

The feet are tucked for flight. The Aves face is Biloxi.
