Gee Kerry this is wonderful & Barbara’s list - stupendous. I would opine that Garcia’s best book is Love in the time of Cholera, & reading Erdrich from the beginning - a phenom really - America’s best story teller currently. Tracks & The Last Report from Little No Horse are Tour de force’s.
Thank you for the book list! I, too, have read many of those, but it would be nice to reread some of them too see how my perspective has changed over the years. Lovely to try some new ones, too.
Can't wait to see the Ruskin film. He was a sincere pioneer.
Thank you! This is beautiful - and fun. Okay, my book list from the past two months. I've been immersed in Palestine/Israel via beautiful writing and deep thinking. All are highly recommended. In My Mother's Footsteps: A Palestinian Refugee Returns Home, by Mona Halaby; A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy, by Nathan Thrall; Apeireagon: A Novel, by Colum McCann; Doppelganger: A Trip into the Mirror World, by Naomi Klein; Operation Shylock, by Philip Roth. Just finished Roth at 5 this morning. What should come next?
Impressive! Your booksellers love you. My friend John Judis wrote a book on the history of the conflict centered during the Truman years. I haven't read it but he wrote a TNR article that summarized it and I put links to both things in my What are Wild Things? post 2 weeks ago.
Congrats on your beautiful image’s inclusion in “Photosnack;” your work definitely belongs in the pantheon of great photography. And Bar-Bar, I would like to argue with your youthful self’s assertion that you couldn’t be a writer. You obviously are a hilarious, gifted one. I love you both. Merry Christmas.
Great piece on Ruskin, and enjoyed Barbara’s list and loved them all! Happy New Year and continued success!

Barbara says that she read somewhere that Garcia Marquez agreed with you that Love in the Time of Cholera was his best.

As always, love those Corvids!

I agree... and she's got more coming soon. Merry Christmas to you and John and your brood.
I'm so sorry about the typos - DYAC!
